In recent years, the field of “health communications” has gained special scientific and global prestige. This field is a link between the two fields of communication and health, and they include: raising awareness and influencing society regarding health issues based on a well-planned plan. The goal of this communication is to prevent diseases and improve the health and quality of life of the people in the community. In addition, health communications seeks to make health a top priority for individuals. People need to improve their knowledge of various diseases, such as causative factors, prevention methods, control, disease definition, diagnostic measures, and treatment strategies. The level of health literacy in Iranian society is low. Health experts in the country believe that despite the high level of information in the field of health, the level of awareness and application of public knowledge in this area is not very satisfactory. The results of a nationwide survey show that the level of health literacy in the country is 29 percent; a worrying statistic that could be a warning sign for the country’s health situation.
